Chickpea trading at ECX trading floor is officially launched on June 26, 2019.
Wondimagegnehu Negera, CEO of Ethiopia Commodity Exchange on the launching event stated that the chickpea trading entered to the platform by the interest of different stakeholders in the market.
He added that trading of Chick pea benefits farmers, buyers, sellers and the country at large level.
Moreover, among the 23 branch warehouses, five of them have allocated to recive the Chick pea; these are Addis Ababa Saris, Bure, Kombolcha, Adama and Gonder.
Wondimagegnehu added that Soya Bean, recently entered to the trading, has shown a great performance in the Exchange history. Form its official start to June 27, 2019, 100,657 quintals of Soya bean has traded with a total value of 1.22 billion Birr.
In the event, Wondimagegnehu informed that the Niger seed will join the Exchange trading system by the coming months. ECX has successfully launched the second eTrade at Humera .
